I forgot to tell you....
One of the most interesting pieces of information about his commercial area of town is the explanation of why it is located a ten minute subway ride out of down town. As the city realized they needed a concentration of larger office spaces to attract international businesses they also realized that the ground was too unstable in central Paris. The bedrock has been so carved up with subways, sewers, and old caves from mining limestone, that the ground literally couldn't carry these buildings! So they designated this area out of town and literally planned it from the ground up!!
